Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Eslinger is a licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.
Many people do not fully understand what a D.O. is. Many do not realize the full potential of having a D.O. as their Physician.
To better educate the public, we have included a brief explanation below.
Just one more reason why Reno Integrative Medical Center is a more complete choice.
This is an additional service provided by us when it is necessary to address specific problems for our patients.
This is also known as Osteopathic Neuro-Muscular Medicine.
Osteopathic Physicians receive neuro-muscular medicine training during medical school and it is the reason why we refer to a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) degree as an M.D. plus!
A D.O.is licensed to do everything that an M.D. can do PLUS some!
M.D.'s are not trained to do everything that a D.O. can do.
There are many different types of treatment that fall under this heading but they all share one thing in common. They consist of actual physical manipulation of the fascia, muscles, nerves and bones of the body with the goal of balancing out the structure of these tissues when an imbalance exists.
All this is done based on the principal that structure and function are inextricably interrelated. In other words, an imbalance in one will cause an imbalance or malfunction of the other. By fixing one, the other will be restored to normal.
