Reno Medical Center Opening in Stages

When calling the office, please note that our office is closed for lunch between 12-1 Pacific Time Mon- Thurs and closed at 12 on Fridays. Reno Integrative Medical Center Opening in Stages:

  • We are committing to weekly treatments for our Boot Campers. This has stayed the same.

  • We have many,on our waiting list, that want to come in for immune boosting treatments like; High dose Vitamin C IV and High dose UVBI. With social distancing being mandatory, we will need to be creative with our scheduling and patient flow.

  • We are still shipping at-home protocols to patients who are running low and unable to travel.

As of May 11th, we will be operating with a full staff.

  • Our front office is now open and able to receive calls as well as walk in pick-ups. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding during these past 6 weeks of limited communication. Our gratitude to the answering service for fielding calls and to our Office manager, Lesley, for dealing with all of the logistics from home.

  • To limit any unnecessary exposure to other patients and staff, as well as accommodating appropriate social distancing, we are asking that loved ones do not come into the clinic with you. Please have them remain where you are staying while receiving treatment at our clinic. We will, however, allow your “person of choice” to join you in appointment with Dr. Eslinger if you feel it is necessary.

Other Precautions Still Being Observed

We will be asking some questions of everyone who enter our clinic for appointment:

  1. Have you been out of the country within the last 14 days?
  2.  Have you been exposed to anyone with the Covid 19 virus?
  3. Have you been sick within the last 14 days?
  4. Are you currently sick?Depending on the answers to these questions, you may or may not be able to receive treatment.
We will be taking EVERYONE’S temperature in the front lobby. If you have a temperature of 100 or more we will send you home and you will not be able to receive treatment.
We will give everyone a mask to be worn at all times. Please wear this mask while in the clinic.

A Shout Out to Our brave Staff and Patients

After the initial quarantine of 2 weeks, it became very clear to all of us that treatments could not wait for our cancer patients. Knowing full well that there is no magic wand guarantee that any of us will not catch this virus, we took what steps we could and bravely offered our services to those most vulnerable and in need.

Our clinical staff stepped up and said, “Our patients can’t wait.” When speaking with our patients they, too, were “all in”.

It has been very successful and was met with incredible good nature by all.

We consider our clinic an essential service. There are many, as stated above, still waiting to get in and we will do our best to facilitate that as safely as possible.

Notes From Dr. Eslinger (Still Good Advice)

Doctor Bob headshotHow can I Fight Viral Infections from Home

There are a number of things you can do at home to keep from getting the scary Covid-19 viral infection. This is a summary of information that has come across my desk. I do not have the scientific references for them but they all make sense to me and I plan on using them myself.

As an aside, I had the Covid-19 test done on me. It was the old posterior (back of the nasal cavity) nasopharyngeal swab with a long thin wire Q-tip. It was NOT fun! Thank God it came back negative!

The first step in preventing Covid-19 is:

don’t get exposed.

What does that really mean? Stay at home when you can. If you must go out wear a mask and gloves.

Yes, I know that some sources say the masks are worthless but then they follow up by saying we have to conserve the masks for our health care workers. Why…to help protect them from the virus. So why do they help protect the workers but not us? It doesn’t make any sense! Wear a mask!

These next steps fall into three different categories.

  1. The first one is composed of things that directly attack and kill the virus.
  2. The second ones somehow interfere with the virus’ ability to attach to and penetrate the red blood cells, which is where the real damage is done.
  3. The third group does their work by boosting the strength of the immune system so that it can do its job to the best of its ability.

The first thing to understand about this virus is that it does its damage by penetrating the red blood cell and attacking the hemoglobin molecule (this is what carries the oxygen out to the tissues from your lungs). This is why shortness of breath is one of the major presenting symptoms of Covid infection.

This is the same exact mechanism that the malaria parasite uses to cause sickness in humans.

This is also the reason why hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) works so well to reverse this viral disease. It blocks the virus’ ability to penetrate the red blood cell wall to cause its damage just like with malaria.
This medication works best when it is used early in the disease to prevent the need to be admitted to the hospital. The big concern is if our hospital system gets overwhelmed! In all their wisdom, our state political structure (Board of Pharmacy and Governor) have blocked the use of HCQ until after a patient is admitted to the hospital in dire condition when the medication is much less effective!

As of this writing, I have been unable to get an Rx filled in California, Nevada and Idaho.

A possible alternative is to drink Tonic water (quinine). Yes, gin & tonic without the gin! Yes, I know it has high fructose corn syrup in it but which is more dangerous temporarily, the virus or the corn syrup? The dose is 4 cups a day if you think you have the virus or 2 cups a day as a preventive.

Here are some vitamin supplements with dosage recommendations to help build your immune system:

Vitamin C can help boost the immune system but in high enough doses it can cause the generation of free radicals (single oxygens) by helping certain white blood cells produce internal hydrogen peroxide. These are deadly to the virus. The oral dose is at least (3000mg-6,000mg) spread throughout the day. Usually this much can trigger diarrhea but if a person is sick the body can tolerate more. If it does cause diarrhea just cut back slightly on the dose until the irritation stops.

Vitamin A and Zinc have long been known as strong support for a good healthy immune system. The dose for vitamin A is 5-10,000 IU’s per day and the Zinc is 25-50mg.

The B vitamins in general will provide support to the whole immune system. They are very safe to take in higher doses (up to 100mg/day) because they are water soluble and the body will eliminate whatever it doesn’t use that day in the urine.

Vitamin D will help by plugging up the receptor sites on the virus so it can’t “see” the red blood cells. In addition to this effect, the D will also boost the strength of the immune system. The dose would be between 10-20,000IU per day for 10 days then, 5-10,000IU per day for maintenance.

In addition to the above supplements, things like Nutricidal (grapefruit seed extract), Lauricidin (made from coconut), elderberry, Echinacea and goldenseal extracts may be helpful. Also, I have been told that MMS(miracle mineral solution) can fight this virus, for those of you that are aware of what that is.

Let’s also not forget about what Homeopathy has to offer. There is a combination of remedies that can be particularly helpful at the 30C potency.

They are Eupatorium Purpureum, Eupatorium Perfoliatum (both are homeopathic malaria remedies), Gelsemium (flu remedy) and Arsenicum Album (remedy for exhaustion). These four, taken as 3-4 pellets under the tongue up to 10 times per day in an acute situation or 3-4 times per day as a preventive.

Dr. John Christopher (an old time herbal guru), in his classic textbook on the use of medicinal herbs “School of Natural Healing” writes “Juniper berries are a good preventive of disease”. He goes on to say “the berries chewed or used as a gargle in a strong infusion (tea) will serve as an effective immunizer”.

All of these things can help get us through these very difficult times.

Immune Boosting Therapies

During the coverage of Covid-19, the news keeps mentioning how the virus can be killed with ultra-violet light. That is why there is a long list of people waiting to get high dose UVBI treatments. That is being set as our next priority along with high dose Vitamin C IV treatment to boost the immune system.

High Dose Vitamin C IV

Please note; During this time, when many still cannot travel, we are suggesting our one hour Medical Records Evaluation with Dr. Eslinger over the phone for a $250.00 fee. This will be applied to your initial appointment should you decide to follow-up in the future with an in office appointment.
This will help our patients decide if this is the direction they want to pursue. Our patient liaison will contact you after the Medical Records Evaluation to go over costs and scheduling.
