Light Therapy

Light Therapy

Light has played a role in medicine for thousands of years.  Hippocrates used exposure to sunlight as one of the cornerstones to his treatment of the sick.

Even though light therapy has been used by conventional medicine for treating conditions such as depression, psoriasis, jet lag, eczema and excess bilirubin, in general, it is considered “alternative medicine” and not covered by insurance.

The simple truth is that the use of UVBI (Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation) has been in use in the US since 1923 and many studies were published throughout the 1930’s to 1950’s proving the efficacy of this therapy for many conditions

The big question of course is “what can it do for me?”

In general, UVBI has been shown to reduce viral and bacterial loads, calm inflammation and quiet cytokine storm (the big danger to life from a COVID infection).

However, UVBI has also demonstrated that it can treat systemic infections by multi-drug resistant microbes such as MERSA, etc.

UVBI can also quiet autoimmune disorders, balance the immune system and decrease the viscosity or thickness of the blood that will then help increase the circulation and oxygen uptake of it.

The primary action of a UVBI treatment is that the ultra-violet frequencies hit the blood cells, are absorbed and cause membrane modifications. Then, when the blood re-enters the body, secondary emissions of photons from the cells travelling around the body are re-emitted causing immune stimulating and balancing effects.

In the 1990’s the use of ozone was added to the UVBI protocol and dramatic improvements were seen in many more conditions. Some of them include MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Lymphocytic leukemia, Lupus, Lyme disease, Irritable Bowel, Cluster Headaches and more.

The older form of UVBI used to withdraw 100cc of heparinized blood into syringes which were then injected into a bag of saline solution. Then 60cc of ozone was injected into the bag and mixed with the blood. The whole mixture was then run back through a UV light chamber and into the patient.

Besides being a much smaller sample of blood, the older technique also had the disadvantage of breaking contact with the body which made it unusable for that population who has a philosophical/religious belief that it is wrong to use such blood treatments.

A newer updated technique called “High Dose Ultra Violet Irradiation or High Dose UVBI, was developed a few years ago that not only expanded the amount of blood treated but doubled the exposure to UV light and quadrupled the amount of ozone but maintained continuity with the body in such a way that people with religious beliefs about blood treatments could now utilize this therapy.

No drug therapy is completely safe. Statistics show approximately 67,000 people die each year from adverse reactions to legally prescribed medications. In the past 10 years over 500,000 UVBI treatments have been administered with 0 deaths!!!  Is it safe? You decide.
